Globe is transparent green without power but when powered on, the lightning effect is blue.
Seems to be some sort of invisible internal phosphorous coating that glows green when lightning power is on (steady green glow with blue lightning going on all over).
However, its (the green glowing stuff) primary on the upper half of the globe like it was apparently spray painted inside. The lower part of the globe/land mass does not glow green.
The whole effect is soothing to look at. No sharp bolts to distract.
It would of looked a lot nicer if the manufacture spent a little more time getting all the land mass coated properly.
It causes static noises on AM radio mostly at power-up but after a couple of minutes of running, no longer a major problem (minor one).
Overall, glad to make this purchase as it is pretty cool looking.
Would be even more cool if the globe would rotate :)

It's hard to tell from photo what the globe sits on, i.e. how it stays in one spot. please explain. A:This is a table lamp so it does have a solid base.
